THE KOSSOYS' PAGE

While searching for the identical Kossoy twins on Google in 2002, I discovered that they were famous folk singers with a 1956 hit album called "Bowling Green" and that their recording of a song from that album, "I'll Fly Away", was used in the movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?.   They only discovered that their recording had been used in the movie when Ellen went to see it with her son shortly after it opened.

I called Irene and found out that the twins would be giving a concert at a church in Manhattan in January of 2003.  I knew that Janice Komarek went to high school with one of the girls (am I remembering right Janice?) and she and Michael joined Jeannetta and me at the concert.  Sometime during the program, the audience was allowed to ask questions; a wonan a few seats away from me asked one that revealed that she was a friend of the twins when they were in public school.  The girls answered, calling her Anne, and sure enough, it turned out to be Anne Segal, our P.S. 12 classmate, and so we had a mini-P.S. 12 reunion at the church. In August 2003,  the twins performed in a folk music festival in Brooklyn that Jeannetta and I went to.

Dear Steph, I'm sure gals in my year recall. I've added a photo of them in shop. Go to "Good Old Days" then "Class Photos" & scroll. Are you related to Joan?

Does anyone remember when the girls had to take shop in Grade 7 and the boys had to take cooking? And...the girls had to hand-sew their own graduation dresses!
